Taking to the streets of Tokyo

Yeastie Boys had a new creation – Inari Bīru (in case you’re not fluent, that’s Japanese for ‘Rice Beer’). Made using high-grade Koshihikari rice, their extra pale golden ale was designed to compliment Japanese food and needed a strong design to match its strong proposition.

We knew the team at Thirst understood what craft beer is, and what it can become, before we even engaged in any work with. They are smart about the modern drinks world, savvy about our place in it, very well connected, and do a whole lot of listening before they come back with ideas. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with them.

Mighty minimalism

Inspired by minimalist Japanese design and a classic red, white and black colour palette, we created a strikingly simple pack.

Simply shodō

To add balance and energy, we picked up our paintbrushes in homage to shodō, traditional Japanese calligraphy. After a lot of fun experimenting with some very viscous, very black ink we created the loose, textured characters we were after. Placing them vertically in the centre of the otherwise pristine pack, we injected dynamism into the design for an ultra stylish, stripped back look.
