Making Malta Balashi a beacon of upbeat energy.

Malta Balashi is Aruba’s own malt beverage. But despite being brewed on the heart of the island, the natural energiser’s outdated brand meant it was losing ground to imported competitors. Having already worked with Thirst on two of its other brands, Balashi knew where to turn, and we got to work on a total brand refresh.
In a category dominated by brown, malt-inspired colour palettes, we wanted to create a design that bursts with vibrant Aruban energy. Keeping the country’s flag as our source of inspiration, we added meaning to the Aruban star, turning it into a dynamic source of energy.
The upbeat design perfectly complements an active island lifestyle, with the star becoming a beacon of Aruban spirit. The new brand feels just as at home on a football as it does in store, so we created a variety of assets to truly bring Malta to life. Finally Aruba’s own malt beverage feels full of the island’s vibrancy.
